Technical Training
Technical training involves understanding the roles of organisations, jobs and individuals and ensuring that the necessary skills and competencies are developed. This is particularly important within those sectors where unplanned events can have a significant impact upon human health, the environment and operational performance. Any abnormal situation requiring human interpretation, judgement and intervention for control, is reliant upon the behaviour and attitude of an individual (employee or contractor), and therefore training needs to be an inherent aspect of an organisation’s culture. Competent staff are also needed to improve operational efficiencies, for example to meet energy and emissions reduction targets.
Developing technically capable staff forms an integral part of maintaining compliance and improving performance.
What is the benefit?
Key staff and teams not only need good awareness of relevant operational issues but they may well need a specific technical ability to underpin that awareness. This would then form part of their overall competence in protecting the environment. The level of awareness and their technical competence will follow an ongoing theme of continual improvement for relevant roles and duties.
Staff awareness and competency should reduce the potential risk of non-compliance with current legislation and the exposure to overall business liability and business continuity risks that could include enforcement action and heightened operational costs.
