GHG Verification
Case Studies
Organisations increasingly need to demonstrate the quality and reliability of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories, for example for public disclosure, the generation of carbon credits or participation in emissions trading. CRA can provide a range of verification services to ensure that emissions claims can be relied on.
What is the benefit?
Any claim related to emissions inventories or reductions will gain credibility if it is verified by a reputable professional organisation. In some circumstances, for example, for generating carbon credits through the development of GHG capture or reduction projects, there are rigorous protocols for design, validation and verification. More widely, any published claim, for example in an organisation’s annual environmental or corporate responsibility report, or as reported to the Carbon Disclosure Project, will also benefit from verification.
In addition to public credibility, verification also provides confidence internally that information relied on to plan emissions reduction programmes is accurate.
Why CRA?
CRA has extensive experience of auditing and verifying environmental data and claims, from generic environmental reports to GHG reduction projects. CRA is approved under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change as a “designated operational entity”, entitled to design, validate or verify projects to generate carbon credits under the “Clean Development Mechanism”. CRA is also accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to undertake verifications in accordance with ISO 14064: Part 3 and ISO 14065, which sets out requirements for GHG validation and verification bodies.
CRA also has extensive engineering design capabilities for a wide range of GHG projects, including waste to energy and process emissions abatement.
