CRA Europe in the Community
CRA Europe finds ways to support various charities through donations and by taking part in charity events held in the local community. Please read on to find out some of the ways in which we do this.
CHRISTMAS CHARITABLE DONATIONS 2012
Last year, CRA Europe once again decided to send our clients electronic Christmas cards rather than traditional Christmas cards. This was for two reasons. Firstly, electronic Christmas cards are better for the environment, and secondly, we thought it would be a nice idea to take the money we saved by sending them electronically, and donate it to some chosen charities. Following suggestions from our staff, we decided to donate money to each of the below charities:
- WaterAid
- RNLI
- Unicef
- When you wish upon a Star
We are proud to support the important work of such charities and will continue to do so in the future.
CRA EUROPE SUPPORTS PROLOGIS CYCLE CHALLENGE
CRA Europe was pleased to support Prologis in their Cycle Challenge – Geneva to Nice, which took place over 4 days between 3rd – 6th October 2012. After their efforts of cycling from Paris to Geneva last year, a group of 60 Prologis colleagues and friends from the property industry started where they finished and headed 350 miles southwards from Geneva to Nice.
The purpose of the challenge was to raise as much money as possible for a range of charities, and CRA‘s donation was split between The Prince’s Trust and Regeneration:
The Prince’s Trust
The UK’s leading youth charity, offering a range of opportunities including training, personal development, business start up support, mentoring and advice.
Regeneration
A small UK charity for people affected by ataxia, their families, carers, social and health care professionals working on their behalf.
CRA EUROPE STAFF IN NOTTINGHAM DRAGON BOAT CHALLENGE
CRA Europe took part in the Nottingham Dragon Boat Challenge on Sunday 5th August 2012 in aid of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. We raced against 42 crews over a 200m race course watched by thousands of spectators, so the pressure was really on!
As many of our staff are parents or have young relatives, the idea of a child suffering through illness moves us all. This is why we chose to support Rainbows, a charity which provides hospice care for sick children and their families. Rainbows receives only 10% of its funding from the government, and relies on people like us to fundraise, donate and sponsor to raise the remaining funds it needs for its vital work. For more information on this amazing charity, please visit www.rainbows.co.uk.
Thanks to some generous donations from colleagues, friends and family, we are proud to say that we managed to raise a total of £656.30 for the charity! Thank you to everyone who showed us support by sponsoring us and coming to cheer us on during the day.
CRA EUROPE RAISING MONEY FOR THE RNLI
The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) is the charity that saves lives at sea. The institution provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service staffed mainly by volunteers. Their lifeboats and lifeguards have saved more than 139,000 lives, so we are proud to be helping them raise money for this vital work. For more information on this charity, please visit their website: www.rnli.org.uk.
How we get involved
Our Director, Bryan Hughes, is a Life Governor and volunteer and regularly does voluntary work for both the RNLI and the RNLI Heritage Trust.
In addition, 2011 saw the year that the Lifeboat Station at Llandudno celebrated its 150th anniversary. As one of our Christmas donations, we “adopted the year” 1976; the year that Conestoga-Rovers & Associates was formed in North America. That donation was used directly towards the funding of training for the Llandudno lifeboat crew.
As part of our Christmas donations in 2012, CRA Europe decided to ’adopt’ the Moelfre Lifeboat as their RNLI station. Our donation was a small contribution towards the huge funds needed for the new boat and boathouse.
Furthermore, when making corporate purchases from Amazon, we use a link on the RNLI website whereby Amazon will donate a minimum of 5% of the purchase price to the RNLI. If you wish to donate in this simple and easy way, then start shopping with Amazon via the RNLI website: www.rnli.org.uk. You will find the relevant page under ”How to support us”, where Amazon is listed under “Other ways to help”.
