Geotechnical Services
Recognising the importance to development of ground conditions beneath a site, CRA Land and Property services are based routinely on pragmatic characterisation of a site in geotechnical as well as geoenvironmental terms.
For any required intrusive investigation stage, substantial costs savings are generated through deployment of combined geotechnical and geoenvironmental sampling and measurement. Design of every Land Quality Assessment will be derived from development requirements for knowledge of ground conditions as well as reasoned land contamination risk assessments.
Should more detailed geotechnical data be required on a project, CRA will incorporate such requirements seamlessly into design of the overall investigation. Similarly, evidence encountered at any stage suggesting the presence of geohazards to the development (excess settlement, subsidence etc.) will be incorporated into the detailed geotechnical assessment.
Robust, comprehensible and comprehensive geotechnical characterisation of the site will be provided, together with recommendations for any geotechnical engineering that development may require. Fundamental design parameters, allowable bearing pressures etc, will be incorporated into our geotechnical interpretations, together with recommendations for foundation design and construction; slope stability etc.
CRA are happy to undertake design, procurement and control of geotechnical construction works on a stand alone basis or alongside other geoenvironmental elements, such as remediation.
In summary, CRA geotechnical expertise includes, but is not limited to:
- Design and procurement of appropriate investigation
- Classification
- In-situ strength / density, moisture condition etc.
- Groundwater conditions and control
- Laboratory parameters such as strength / density, drained / undrained condition etc.
- Problematic soils amelioration
- Shallow founding solutions - design and performance parameters
- Deep founding solutions - design and performance recommendation
- Ground improvement design, procurement and validation
- Earthworking methodology
- Temporary works - excavation safety etc.
- Slope and cutting design and stability assessment
- Resource assessment - mineral extraction and reuse of arisings
- Modification / stabilisation using lime, pozzolans etc.
- Design, planning, procurement and control of earthworks including
on - site supervision of works and quantity survey
