Manufacturing
The manufacturing sector is seen as being outside of the production activities associated with the Chemical & Pharmaceutical and Food & Drink industries. It has evolved and diversified and includes the engineering and assembly of consumer goods, and also the activities of the electronics, automotive, and aerospace industries, amongst others.
The sector faces an assortment of environmental and sustainability demands. Large-scale manufacturing companies can be subjected to an array of demands from environmental permitting, with direct regulation governed by either the Environment Agency or the Local Authority. Customers in the supply chain are also increasing their expectations for the development and use of sustainable systems to underpin a continuation of supply. There is therefore an increasing anticipation that operators will be required to report on their own sustainability performance and potentially have their findings validated.
In the current economic climate there is also a developing trend towards business acquisition and divestment which requires appropriate support with due diligence risk assessment.
